Ottawa is known for the Rideau Canal (a 10-minute walk from the College), which, among other things, is used in winter as a skating rink. At about 8 km (over 3 miles) of ice, the Canal is the World’s Longest Skating Rink. The ice does not freeze until January and the canal remains open for a longer or shorter period depending upon weather conditions. There is also an open rink at Lansdowne Park, a 10-minute walk from the College.
